The final visual presentation of the Altar (2024)

The final visual presentation of the Altar (2024),76cm x 56cm, Watercolor, gold foil, fineliner.

I applied gold leaf to the background of these images, mirroring the gilding commonly seen in religious scenes and ritual objects, such as gold paper used in offerings. This addition symbolizes wealth, reverence, and sincerity in religious and traditional cultures, enhancing the presentation's visual solemnity.

In religious rituals and deity offerings, red, yellow, and gold are typically used to symbolize prosperity. To align with cultural traditions and enhance object recognition, I chose to incorporate color. This not only enriches the illustrations but also improves their clarity, allowing viewers to intuitively understand and appreciate the significance of each offering.

By opting for drawings rather than photographs, I emphasize the artistic process over the final outcome. This approach reflects the meticulous preparations involved in religious rituals, where the act of creating offerings fosters a deeper connection between the divine and the material world, ultimately guiding participants toward spiritual enlightenment.
