Domestic Worship Ritual in Quanzhou

This drawing is based on my experience of domestic worship in Quanzhou. Unlike temple rituals, these acts of devotion take place inside the home, in front of a family altar. Lighting incense, arranging offerings, and standing quietly before the shrine are small, repeated gestures that form part of everyday life.
