Before the Offering
This drawing does not depict the offerings placed on the altar. Instead, it focuses on the moment of preparation—the stage just before departure. The scene shows clothing laid out and a basket of fruit, echoing a memory of my grandmother. As long as she lifted that neatly arranged basket, she was ready to leave for the temple at any moment.
In this work, the offerings are already selected, sorted, and cleaned. They have been carefully placed into a basket, forming a complete set, yet they have not been offered. The ritual has not officially begun, but it is no longer entirely absent. It exists in an in-between state, suspended between everyday life and the ritual space of worship.
